Default The way I'd like to see grouping

I'm a necromancer.

That being said, I'll have you know that at certain times, it can take me over 3 hours to find a group for HoH, at which point I simply give up and leave the computer. So... I've decided that part of it is because of the way grouping is done in GW - Everyone spamming LFG, nobody really knows what's going on, people who constantly spam groups to join them and get rejected time after time after time, then call the leader asshole for not accepting them...

I think it should be done differently - A player should have a list of current incomplete groups with, perhaps, a short description of what they're looking for and available group slots as well as current member stats. It would go something like this:

From the group leader's point of view:
I want to start a group.

I go to a certain "Group Creation" screen, insert a description of the group I am looking to build (Spike, balanced, TS/vent, any general description), and if I want maybe specify slot by slot the class of character I want (If I want a group with 2 monks, 2 warriors, 2 elementalists and a mesmer, I'd pick slot by slot the available classes I want for it, so the people who want to join my group can see what I need).

I click Approve, my group goes into some list for the current district/zone (It doesn't have to be restricted by districts like it is now, why not have it general for the whole area?).

I wait, and when a player wants to join my party, I see it the same way I do now. I hit accept and he joins, I hit reject and he disappears, never to bother me again.

Now, from the player's point of view:
I want to join a group.

I hit the Find Group screen, and get a list. This list will be something like the attached picture (See bottom of post).

This "demonstration" only shows 3 party members and 3 blank spaces, but obviously it would be 8 in the game.

If I put the pointer over a picture, I'd see the group member's stats: Name, fame, rank, whatever I -should- know about someone else.

If I like the group and its members, I hit the Join button, and a join request will be sent to the leader. If it is approved, the screen closes automatically. If not, a little warning appears next to the group telling me I have been rejected once from it (To a maximum of 3 times, afterwhich it won't allow you to join through that screen again, but only manually).

On the opposite side, there could be a "Free Players" list, for people who are LFG, but I see less use for that.

That's just my idea, so I'd appreciate your opinions, cause for me the one major downfall for the game is my inability to find a group with certain classes.

I'm afraid this wouldn't solve the problem for Necromancers (and sometimes other classes). Because the main problem is that Necromancers aren't what people want (most of the time).

I notice that heavily if I want to go to FoW/UW. It's almost impossible to get a group as a Mesmer, very hard as a Necromancer, sometimes difficult as an Elementalist (who needs a nuker anyway?) and I've yet to find a way to stop all people from inviting me the second I enter the district as a Monk.

That said, an improved system to find groups would be a good thing, and something along what you said is a nice step towards it. Crucial would be some way for lone players to state what they are, because there is no way to judge that based on class only.

I completely agree with this. As it is, finding a pick up group can be near impossible. Some system to help sort out the current chaos would be greatly appreciated.

I particularly like players being able to put a little description about what they can do, if they have ts/vent, etc. This would also help sift out the people who aren't even going to bother following directions and the like, as it tells you something about their personality.

Sounds like a good idea, but it won't fix the huge amount of warriors, and the (seemingly) small amount of monks. It would organize LFG more, and stop the spamming of idiotic group invites (GODLY W/MO LFG MUST HAVE 3 MONKS!!!!!!!!!).

I would change the look & feel a little bit. Each town needs a bulletin board, that acts just like an inventory screen. You can "Add Bulletin", which gives you a form to fill out. It auto-fills name, profession, level, etc., then gives you a small text box to fill out. Maybe there's a series of checkboxes if you're in a "Mission" area -- one for Mission, one for Bonus.

When you walk up to the Bulletin Board, you can see all of the current bulletins. Hovering will display data on the post. If you open up a bulletin, you can opt to Whisper to the poster, or simply invite them in to your group.

When you leave the area (or district), your post disappears.

I play a necromancer a mesmer and a monk. That being said I found a phrase that may help you get a pug. Here is what I said over local chat as my necro: I suck because I can give your monks +6 energy regen. Allmost immediatly I receved an invite

P.S.-I was actually running BIP

One workaround could be to put all the hechmen there are into your team. That way you won't get anymore invitations.
Unfortunately you can't invite additional people.

Although your idea is good, some other people have come up with the idea of skillsets.

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=29656

This would allow others to see what skills you run and if they can use you in their team build.
